Program Description: Have you turned away patients because your agency is reluctant to try Infusion Therapy? Think it is too risky? This program presents what types should be considered, management of lines, and skills needed to begin teaching to families/patients. The program incorporates Infusion Nurses Society (INS) guidelines and protocols as well as competencies for agency nurses. Learn about referral sources and how to make infusions work for you! Presentation Date: 8.21.2014

Program Objectives: Upon completion of this program, the viewer will be able to:

  • Distinguish between traditional infusion drug therapies and specialty drug therapies.
  • Describe two considerations for infusion line management.
  • Recognize the importance of infusion care standards.
  • Discuss infusion competencies for agency nurses.

About the Presenter:
Jennifer Rine, RN, BSN
has been a Registered Nurse since 1989 with wide-ranging clinical experience from medical-surgical oncology, labor and delivery, pediatrics, long term care and rehabilitation, and home infusion nursing. She returned to school and completed her BSN in 2008. As the Director of Nursing and Administrator for BrightStar Care her vision is to develop a reputation for passionate patient-centered care and excellence in the home setting by ensuring patients and their families experience the best possible care from a team that is well-trained and supported. Jennifer leads by example and shares her passion for home infusion, education and clinical excellence including TAHC&H committee service on the Annual Meeting committee, Private Pay committee, and as chair of the Education committee.
