Program Description: Developing an emergency operations plan is only one step in the complex cycle of emergency management. This provides focus on actions you can take to not only meet regulatory requirements, but to fine-tune plan details, incorporate best practices, and integrate into the planning and response community in your area. You will be able to learn how to apply your plan and coordinate emergency preparedness in your community. Presentation Date: 11.16.2015

Program Objectives: Upon completion of this program, the viewer will be able to:

  • Identify the role home care and hospice agencies can assume in a regional response to a disaster.
  • List resources available to home health and hospice agencies to integrate into the regional disaster response.

About the Presenter:
Lori Upton
BSN, is a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers and holds a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management.

Ms. Upton is the Regional Director of Emergency Management and Operations for the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council. As the Medical Operations Chief in the Catastrophic Medical Operations Center for a 25-county region, Ms. Upton authored the regional medical response plan that has now been adopted by officials in the region. Her plan was part of the coordinated effort placed into action during the response of the Texas Gulf Coast to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike. Ms. Upton has an extensive background in clinical operations and leadership of emergency management, with disaster response experience including the World Trade Center in 2001, and H1N1 Spring Outbreak of 2009.
