Passing the exam required to earn the HCS-D coding credential can be daunting for many. In this 90-minute program Lisa Selman-Holman addresses the concerns of most every coder who plans to sit for and successfully achieve this coveted credential. After a review of the HCS-D exam basics, Lisa provides a review of the coding concepts a coder must know and provides numerous examples, scenarios, and exercises to allow you to gauge your knowledge, understanding and application of those coding concepts.

To enhance your experience this program includes six [6] embedded quizzes and a 50 question cumulative post-test - with many questions similar to what you will experience in the exam - all designed to test your comprehension, measure your preparedness for the exam, and contribute to a successful outcome on your certification exam!

This program replaces CPU5357. Quizzes and post-test questions have been revised to reflect changes in 2018 codes and coding guidance. It highly suggested as a preparatory step prior to sitting for the HCS-D exam.

The goal of this program is to consolidate the application of concepts necessary to establish the coder as competent prior to testing for the Homecare Coding Specialist-Diagnosis certification exam. This program provides an excellent review of concepts included in the exam. At the conclusion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Explain conventions and guidelines in ICD-10-CM coding.
  • Apply guidelines to home care scenarios.
  • Identify correct actions to comply with legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Identify appropriate actions in order to collaborate with clinical staff and physicians.
  • Explain the diagnosis OASIS data items.
